I read another review on here where the guy was talking about the “drunk me“ that talked him into buying this thing. Well, the same exact thing happened to me. I’ve been wanting this thing for years, but eventually The Liquor started calling the shots and I ordered this on a Saturday afternoon. It showed up like three days later, which was pretty amazing considering that I don’t think Chuds barbecue is a massive operation, and I live a couple states away. The communication has been awesome and the product is wonderful. This is an heirloom product to be quite honest. This is something that you could hand down to your kids, and them to theirs. It’s built like an MRAP and It works absolutely as advertised in. It’s been a long time since I bought anything that I was so instantly happy with. I follow Bradley’s recipe for beef tallow flour tortillas to the letter, and right out of the gate I made some of the best tortillas I’ve ever had in my entire life. One thing that I would suggest if you’re gonna make his tortillas, though, don’t let them rest for an hour. Let them sit in the refrigerator for about two days. The difference is night and day not only with taste and texture, but with how they perform on the press. They are high-end restaurant quality. What a great product. Thank you Chuds barbecue!
One of the first recipes I tried was your Cubano on the Chud press family loved it
I've used it for a couple of months now making tortillas over a propane camp burner. It works pretty darn well! The biggest downside is pushing down on the CHUD part of the handle is less than a 1/4" wide and it starts to dent your hand in after 30 tortillas. It would be awesome if that portion had a 1" extension upwards that was then bent back at a 30 degree angle so there was a flatter area to push down on. That's my only complaint, other than it almost cooks the stuff too fast ;-)
Pretty awesome press, seasoned it in the oven, perfect for smash burgers and all kinds of stuff
So this was one of those sober me knew I didn’t need things but drunk me kept ogling it behind my back until he finally pulled the trigger. The press is pretty darned heavy and is probably best for a person who has a permanent spot to keep it where it’s used. My wife is having no part of that place being on our stovetop, so I keep it in the garage. I use it on my flat propane turkey fryer burner but it works well on the stovetop too. It gets plenty hot. I seasoned it on my 26” Weber kettle and have had no issues with sticking other than a couple times with the top plate. I’ve made some good burgers and sandwiches thus far and I have no complaints outside of one of the screws needing an Allen wrench to tighten and loosen. It can’t be hand tightened or loosened for whatever reason and to carry it around this needs to happen, otherwise, I’ve enjoyed it to the point that drunk me also ordered a raw steel Chud box. 🤦🏻♂️
