The things I like about this cooker go beyond the great food it produces. It’s also *fun* to cook on and has character in its shape and look. Also it’s not too big, not too small. If I want to roll it up to the front yard I just strap it on my dolly and drag it to the front yard. Easy peasy. I can’t do that with my 700 pound offset due to the incline.
One thing to note on setup is that this things is precision-made. The holes that are drilled for the legs to bolt in seemed to be the *exact* right size. We found it easier to rotate it on its lid and work that way because we were not getting the bolts in quite right when it was sideways and it felt like we would strip something. But big picture it’s not hard to put together. Just gotta play with it some and make sure you don’t force it.
I’m also probably going to add firebrick to the bottom mostly to make ash clean up easier, though I realize many people like that lip because it helps keep charcoal in and you could also just vaccuum the ash out it instead of sweeping it out. I think I just prefer being able to sweep it out. Just a personal preference but not a big deal. There were some rust spots I had to clean up but that’s not anyone’s fault. It sat outside for about a week because it was delivered when I was on vacation but I was ok with that. Delivery driver left it exactly where I asked in front of the garage and that part of the process I felt was handled very well. Smooth experience all around! Thanks Chudd!
