Description

In this video I show you all the tips for grilling a burger over charcoal on the Weber Kettle. This simple burger recipe is so good yet often overlooked!

Ingredients

  • Chilled chuck roast (or meat of your preference)
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Onion
  • Tomato
  • Lettuce (butter lettuce works well)
  • Cheese slices (of your choice)
  • Burger buns
Burger Sauce:
  • 1 egg
  • Dijon mustard
  • Sugar
  • Lemon juice
  • Avocado oil
  • Ketchup
  • Hot sauce
  • Pickle juice
  • Mustard
  • Worcestershire sauce

Instructions

  • Take your chilled chuck roast (or other meat) and slice it into little strips that will fit through your meat grinder. Use a finer diameter plate to achieve a crumbly texture.
  • Weigh out your desired burger patties, aiming for 6 ounces each. If you don't want to weigh them, you can simply eyeball it.
  • Line a patty press with parchment paper and use it to form your burger patties.
  • Repeat.
  • Place the patties in the fridge to solidify for at least 1-2 hours, or even overnight.
  • Fire up your Weber grill.
  • While you wait for the charcoal to catch, let's make a homemade burger sauce.
  • In a blender, add 1 egg, Dijon mustard, sugar, and lemon juice. Give it a quick blend, then slowly drizzle in some avocado oil to create your own mayo. (Or simply just use Mayo)
  • Next, add ketchup, hot sauce, pickle juice, mustard, and Worcestershire sauce to the blender for a classic burger sauce. Blend until well combined. Set aside.
  • Thinly slice an onion, tomato, and lettuce to use as toppings for your burgers.
  • Season each burger patty with a sprinkle of salt and pepper. Place the patties on the grill and let them sit for a few minutes without flipping. This allows a nice sear to develop.
  • Once ready, flip the patties and place a slice of cheese on top. Continue cooking for another minute or two until the cheese melts.
  • While the patties are cooking, toast the burger buns on the grill until they are slightly crispy.
  • It's assembly time! Take the burger buns and spread the homemade burger sauce on the bottom bun. Layer on some butter lettuce, followed by the cheeseburger patty. Top with slices of onion and tomato. Add a little more sauce on the top bun, because why not?
  • Place the top bun on the patty, and dive in!
